Road surface condition (RSC) sensing

Current mobility-related sensors do not support road surface condition detection which is critical for safer driving. According to FHA's report, wet pavement is responsible for 74 % of all weather-related crashes in the U.S. with over 380,000 injuries and 4,700 deaths per year. In addition, wet roads often increase traffic congestion and result in infrastructure damage and supply chain disruptions. However, the RSC sensors are under development and not applied for current autos. Most of the existing technology is to measure either directly or indirectly the friction between the tires and road surface which means it can only know the current situation but not the situation ahead.

Since our innovative technology detects the road surface information ahead of the vehicle, it can confirm forward road conditions and control the vehicle safely. Our patent-pended "multi-wavelength SWIR sensing technology" is combined with a deep learning-based image analysis method and will provide precise image prediction.
